LAVERTY FINISHES THE SEASON WITH A WIN FOR TYCO BMW

Michael Laverty finished the 2015 British Superbike season in the best way possible, taking a debut win for Tyco BMW in the last race of this year’s championship yesterday. Third place in the opening race on Sunday was his third podium of the season, but with his BMW Motorrad S1000RR working perfectly, Laverty fought his way to a debut win in race two ahead of James Ellison and Shane Byrne.
Speaking afterwards Laverty said: “We kept the best to last, but all credit to the Tyco BMW lads, they have kept their faith in me and this is a perfect reward for their efforts. We’ve been building towards a win this past few rounds and since we had the upgrades at Assen, I’ve always believed we’d have top three pace.
“Coming into Brands at the weekend I was thinking I’d love stand on the top step, and after a few tweaks after race one, I really rode race two with a lot of heart – I wanted that win. In the early laps I wanted to get to the front but was scared of over working my tyre, but thankfully I had grip right until the end. I was a little weak into the second last corner and I knew the boys would have a go, but I kept going straight back at them. This win is as much for the whole team as it is for me, but thanks to the boys for giving me a great package as my S1000RR worked perfectly.”
Tommy Bridewell took eleventh and twelfth placed finishes in Sunday’s two BSB races at Brands Hatch and in the 1000cc Superstock class, Alastair Seeley crashed out, but had a great season overall, taking second place in the championship standings.
Team Manager Philip Neill said: “What a great way to end our first BSB season together with BMW Motorrad: two podiums and a fine win for Michael in one of the best races of the year. We’ve said it all before but this really has been a learning year for Tyco BMW and to finish the year with two race wins and five podiums is very satisfying and we still have more development to come with the all new S1000RR. It was a difficult round for both Tommy and Alastair, however they both played a significant part in a memorable season.

This coming weekend Alastair Seeley will represent Tyco BMW at the end of season Sunflower Trophy Races in Northern Ireland. The event takes place on Friday and Saturday at Bishopscourt Race Circuit in County Down.
